The Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have partnered to implement the EmPower II: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies Programme in the Philippines. This initiative promotes gender-responsive climate actions and empowers women and marginalized groups.
As Project Lead, MCPI, represented by Executive Director Allan Roberto I. Sicat, Finance and Admin Manager Aileen Gay Gardon, and Program Manager Anna Ria Manahan, will drive investments in clean technologies, skills development, and leadership for a just energy transition. Jessie Todoc, EmPower Philippines Focal Point, UNEP, will ensure alignment with global climate resilience strategies.
On February 28, 2025, RAFI Microfinance, Inc. (RAFI MFI) formalized its participation through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with MCPI. Under this agreement, RAFI MFI will receive technical assistance until April 30, 2026.
This collaboration underscores microfinance’s role in fostering sustainable livelihoods and climate resilience for vulnerable communities.
